RECIPIENTS OF DR. WARDELL G. NICHOLS SCHOLARSHIP

DeAvoin Janee’ Wright
Recipient of the Initial
Dr. Wardell G. Nichols Scholarship

DeAvion Janee’ Wright has won the $500 Dr. Wardell G. Nichols Scholarship, being awarded by the Hillside High 2017 Reunion Committee – South Carolina Chapter.  Miss Wright will be recognized at the Reunion Banquet on Saturday, September 2, 2017.  DeAvion is a 2017 graduate of Lancaster High School.  She is the daughter of Jerome and Tomeiko Wright. 

Presently, Ms. Wright is a Junior at USC-Columbia and remains on the President’s List.   Her GPA is 3.992.  She is pursuing a degree in Middle School Education.

This is the initial scholarship awarded in Dr. Nichols’ name.  This scholarship is in memory of Dr. Wardell G. Nichols a former principal of Hillside Elementary & High School, Heath Springs, South Carolina.

Makaylen Michelle Crosby


Makaylen Michelle Crosby
was awarded a $500 Dr. Wardell G. Nichols Scholarship, by the Hillside High School 2018 Reunion Committee – South Carolina Chapter on May 4, 2018.  Makaylen is a 2018 graduate of Andrew Jackson High School in Kershaw, SC. 

Ms. Crosby is the daughter of Frederick and Michelle Harris Crosby – Heath Springs, SC.  She is attending Claflin University – Majoring in Biology. 

Jaren Ke’Von Watts

Jaren Ke’Von Watts was awarded a $500 Dr. Wardell G. Nichols Scholarship, by the Hillside High School 2018 Reunion Committee – South Carolina Chapter on
May 4, 2018.  Jaren is a 2018 graduate of Lancaster High in Lancaster, SC.  Jaren is a 2018 graduate of Lancaster High School in Lancaster, SC 

 Mr. Watts is the son of Rodney and Anita Mingo Watts – Lancaster, SC.  He is attending Coastal Carolina University – Majoring in Sport Communications.
